Farmers’ Perspective On Local Food

Portland_Farmers_Market_Header

The Portland Maine Farmers’ Market is ranked in the top ten of America’s Best Farmers’ Markets according to Travel & Leisure. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to explore the market, sample some produce and learn from the farmers.

What do you think is the most important reason to shop and eat food locally?

I have always enjoyed browsing the Portland Farmers Market with my girlfriend and her mother during my trips to the northern country.

So glad local farmer’s markets are making a comeback. Everyone, take time to find one near you, and make an effort to visit and buy from your local farmers. It’s surprising what you find!

I am always pumped when I find a new veggie or fruit at a farmers’ market. I give farmers’ markets credit for diversifying my taste in food.

This must’ve been an awesome trip. And my raw-milk dairy farm friend from Vermont just sent me a link to an incredible new movement happening in Brooklyn. Even if you’re not around the city it’s an awesome read and extremely compelling. Hopefully the positive word on food will be spread!
